How You Can Help

Making a gift to the Minor Hockey Foundation Ontario (MHF) is a great way to invest for the future – the future of hockey and healthier communities where we work and play. Donating to the Foundation will ensure that the programs, services and equipment needs of participants are up to the highest standards and available to those in need.

Donations can be made through the following:
  • Mail
  • Telephone
  • In person

We know, however, that it is not possible for all donors to give in the same way. With that in mind, there are a variety of options available to you.

Community Events

Your community group can organize a special event to benefit the Foundation. This could include anything from a golf tournament, barbeque, walk-a-thon, skate-a-thon, hockey tournament, or even a lemonade stand. The MHF can provide support to your event if needed.

In Memory or Tribute Gift

Is there someone special you would like to honour?

You can make a donation in someone’s memory, or commemorate the achievements you or a loved one accomplished in hockey.

When a gift is received, the Foundation advises the family or friend of your thoughtfulness. You, as the donor, will benefit from a tax receipt and the knowledge that your gift truly did make a difference in the future of minor hockey and hockey communities in Ontario.

Monthly Giving

We encourage all donors to consider giving a comfortable amount each month. Our program allows for two payment options: from your credit card or directly from a chequing account. Monthly giving is a lasting investment in minor hockey.

Monthly Giving also allows you to spread your gift out over a twelve-month period and receive a single charitable donation receipt for tax purposes at the end of the year.

Below are three examples of how little it costs to invest in the Foundation:
$100 per month = $3.23 per day
$50 per month = $1.62 per day
$25 per month = $0.80 per day

Planned Giving

These donations are not always given right away but they are very important to the Minor Hockey Foundation Ontario in improving and expanding programs and services our Foundation offers. Planned gifts come in various forms such as:

Bequests: made through your will with Minor Hockey Foundation Ontario as the beneficiary.

Insurance Policies: with Minor Hockey Foundation Ontario as the beneficiary.

Annuities: whereby the Foundation uses your donation to buy a gift annuity, which pays you a guaranteed income and lets the Foundation retain a portion of the principal.

Property: you can assign ownership of real estate, stocks, bonds, mutual funds or other personal property to the Foundation. A gift of securities is often the most tax-effective way to make a significant donation.
