Donations Pour in for the Minor Hockey Foundation Ontario

September 2, 2008

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) is pleased to announce generous donations made by local minor hockey associations and leagues to the Minor Hockey Foundation Ontario (MHF) in support of the Let's Learn Hockey Program.

MHF President John Archibald presented the Stouffville Clippers Minor Atom team with an acknowledgement certificate recognizing their fundraising efforts at an event in March.

The parents of players from Unionville Minor Hockey were presented with an acknowledgement plaque at the Let's Learn Hockey event in April in Alliston for their fundraising efforts towards the program.

The New Tecumseth Minor Hockey Association also stepped up in April and committed to paying half of the arena and related costs for the Let's Learn Hockey event in Alliston.

Finally, the teams of the Shamrock Hockey League came together and each made a donation on behalf of their centre and the Shamrock League to the MHF. As with the other donations the teams will be supporting the Let's Learn Hockey program.

In 2000 the Minor Hockey Foundation Ontario (MHF) was created to support minor hockey players in the Province of Ontario . The Let's Learn Hockey Program provides children who are currently experiencing difficulty raising enough funds to participate in the game of ice hockey.

  • Obtain new or upgraded equipment
  • Participate in a one-day hockey Orientation Camp
  • Receive financial assistance towards their minor hockey registration fee for the season immediately following the date of the one-day Let's Learn Hockey Program orientation event.

Past LLHP events included participants from the Children's Aid Society, Big Brother's and Big Sister's and residents of areas governed by the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and other Member Partners of the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) and the Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association.

The Minor Hockey Foundation Ontario also receives great support from our corporate sponsors. Robson Technologies Ltd. has been a supporting partner of the foundation for many years and we are grateful to once again accept a donation from our technology partner. The donation will be used to help OMHA players pursue secondary education through the Wally Scott Bursary.

The OMHA encourages all local associations and leagues to become involved with the Minor Hockey Foundation Ontario . For more information on the programs being offered or to find out what you can do to help visit www.hockeyfoundation.ca or contact Richard Ropchan ( [email protected] ).
